About 33% of all Internet users have become victims of personal data leakage. This is stated in the report of the analytical company Thales.
The document states that 82% of users whose information was stolen complained about the deterioration in the quality of life after the loss of confidential data. The greatest distrust of online shopping due to such cases is experienced by residents of France, the UK and Australia.
According to Thales, about 11% of companies are slow to report a hack and theft of their user data. The report indicates that one in ten firms report an incident after about six months, and one in twentieth can keep data theft secret for up to one year.
At the same time, 54% of respondents are sure that companies and services should use additional security measures, such as data encryption and two-factor authentication. Most users (42%) were satisfied with data protection in banks.
